Science

Pre-university science course lays the foundation for higher education in pure science or an applied science stream. RISE College, Bengaluru, offers both PCMB (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology) and PCMC (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science) two-year courses. Our faculty comprises a committed bunch who employ the best of traditional and modern teaching methods coupled with technology to deliver the best learning outcomes. To develop holistic individuals, we work collectively to empower our students with the necessary skills and competence to meet life’s demands and challenges.

PUC Science stream will lead you to the basic pure science or an applied science course. At RISE PU College, Bengaluru, the two year course is available in two combinations that are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology or Computer Science. These combinations are a must for taking up science programs at the graduate level. Our faculties have a strong commitment towards teaching while employing the best of innovative methods and technology in their teaching practice. We also encourage students to participate in personality development activities like Sports and Cultural activities. We aim at giving quality education to students that helps in the holistic development of the students.

WHAT IS PCMC?
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science (PCMC) is a relatively new combination, designed to cater for the emerging technology market, which provides a good foundation to further study of analytical subjects or other professional technical degrees.

Why PCMC?
PCMC offers interesting options for students such as CET, JEE, GIFT and IIIT

JEE
The JEE body decided to commence a Joint Entrance Examination from the year 2013 for admission to the undergraduate programs in Engineering in two phases, i.e. JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced). This new pattern of JEE aims to create an umbrella through a single combined entrance exam for the admission to various Govt. and Private Engineering Colleges in the country. It minimizes over 50 different Engineering Entrance Exams to one.
Admissions to IITs were based on category-wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE (Advanced) subject to condition that such candidates were in the top 20 percentile categories. Admission to NIT’S, IIT’s and CFT’s participating through Central Seat Allocation Board were based on All India Rank subject to condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% aggregate marks, or be in the top 20 percentile in the class XII examination conducted by the respective boards. The aggregated marks (qualifying marks) for SC, ST and PWD candidates were at least 65% in the class II PUC/XII examination. As there is a significant variation in the percentage marks of toppers among boards, the category-wise top 20 percentile score of successful candidates of each board is used as an alternative for the benefit of the candidates.

Benefits of JEE
JEE is now the single entrance exam for engineering aspirants in India to take admission into the Engineering /Science Institutions. There is no need to apply for several entrance exams. The students will now be tree and relaxed after appearing in a single exam. This will considerable reduce stress-level and the student will be able to avoid the multiple exams which posed the challenge of preparing for different syllabi and patterns. It is also a substantial financial savings for parents. A simultaneous preparation of School/Board examinations and JEE will yield better results. Introduction of JEE, thus eliminates the unnecessary wastage of time, effort & money.
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JOSAA) has beet setup by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (NHRD) to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admissions to 97 institutes. This includes 23 ITs, 31 NITs and 20 Other Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). Admission to all the academic programs offered by these Institutes will be made through a single platform.
Note: No. of seats are subject to change as per Govt. policy.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE
Performance in JEE (Main): The candidate should be among the top 2,20,000 (including all categories) in Paper- 1 of JEE (Main) for candidate who wish to appear in JEE (Advanced). The percentages of various categories are: 27% for OBC-NCL. 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and the remaining 50.5% is OPEN for all.
Age Limit: Candidates of GEN and OBC-NCL categories must have completed 17 years at the time of admission and should be an Indian National.
The upper age limit for JEE (Advanced) is 25 years for GE and OBC-NCL categories and this upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 years for SC, ST and PwD categories.

Number of Attempts: The maximum number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE (Main) shall be limited to 03 (three).
A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two (02) times in consecutive years irrespective of whether or not he/she passed the qualifying Examination.
Appearance in Class II PUC/XII (or equivalent) examination: Those appearing in class II PUC/XII final (or equivalent) examination may also appear in JEE (Main) in the following year provisionally.
